About

A small studio working in metal.

Vallex is a small studio designing and making furniture in metal. Stainless steel, aluminium, copper, brass. We design, fabricate and finish every piece in-house at our studio in the Northern Rivers of NSW.

The work blurs the line between art and utility. Shaped with intention, the material reflects light, casts shadows, and creates movement within a room. A functional object becomes a sculptural feature. Each piece is one-of-a-kind. Made in Australia.

Process

How we work.

Design

Every piece starts on paper. We sketch, refine and prototype until the form is right — until the proportions, the weight, the way the light catches an edge all feel resolved.

Fabrication

Cut, fold, weld, grind. Each piece is built in our studio by hand. Metal repays patience — the cleaner the work at each stage, the better the finish at the end.

Finish

Brushed, polished, raw, patina. Finishing is where the piece settles into itself. We work it until the texture and form feel right.

Materials

Four metals.

Stainless steel

Bright, hard, modern. Brushed, polished, or left raw.

Aluminium

Light, soft, easy to shape. Reads warm under colour, cool under daylight.

Copper

Living material. Patinates with time and touch. Each piece develops its own surface.

Brass

Warm, dense, classical. Polished it sings. Left to age it deepens.

Patina pieces change with time. That is the point.

The studio sits in the Northern Rivers of NSW. Between hinterland and ocean, in a part of the country that still rewards slowness.

Custom commissions and trade accounts both start with a conversation.
